Meet Your Instructor Captain Grant Ninneman

Captain Grant Ninneman

Grant Ninneman was born in East London, South Africa. It was in that quaint coastal city where he developed a love for the ocean through lifeguarding, scuba diving, and surfing. In 1997, Grant’s adventurous spirit prompted him to travel to the Red Sea in order to obtain his Dive Master Certification. At the end of his time in Eilat, Israel, Grant decided to pursue a career in the boating industry.

Grant arrived in South Florida in 1999. His first adventure began as a scuba diver on a treasure hunting yacht.

Later that year, Grant accepted an offer as a first mate on a 75’ Hatteras to cross the Pacific Ocean to Australia.

Grant spent 18 months exploring picturesque places in Central and South America, New Zealand, and Australia, as well as numerous islands in the Pacific.

After this journey Grant decided it was time to head back to South Florida to work toward his 200 ton captain’s license. He took a job working on an 118’ Baglietto jet yacht as first mate. In between seasons in the Med and in the Bahamas, Grant took courses at International Yacht Master Training.

Between 2004 and 2010 Grant was a captain on 70’ to 80’ motor yachts, doing trips up and down the East Coast from Key West to New England and the Bahamas.

Grant’s appreciation for excellent nautical design, quality workmanship and innovation in technology led him to jump at the chance to be a part of Denison Yacht Sales as the service manager and Fleet Captain of the new Monte Carlo Yachting line and then also the Beneteau range of motor and sailing vessels. There he thoroughly enjoyed training new buyers; introducing them to yachting and teaching them to handle and maintain their new yachts. Grant strives to thoroughly understand and appreciate all systems on the vessels he is operating.

Through his wide range of yachting experiences, Grant is perfectly qualified to be of good service to new yacht buyers as a teacher, consultant and broker.

He looking forward to sharing the joy of running and operating a yacht with those keen to learn.
